Kia ora!

I am a self-taught kiwi artist from Kurow, North Otago. I have pursued this path in art since the beginning of 2021 as a landscape acrylic artist.

I discovered my talent for art in High School, receiving awards of excellence in NCEA Level one, two and three. I got a degree in Viticulture and Winemaking and worked in the wine industry, doing art as a side hustle. In more recent times I have decided to take my art more seriously.

This style of bright colours moulding landscapes in a geometric way is a style I've only recently delved into. I don't want to stop because every new painting that I create becomes my new favourite! The colours of the rainbow in my paintings reflecting the colours of my creative imagination.

I first got inspiration for painting while hiking the mountains in Marlborough and Abel Tasman area, capturing the landscapes mentally as well as through photographs. Currently my paintings are based on photos taken in Marlborough, Otago, Abel Tasman and Aoraki National Park. With more locations to come as more adventures are completed!

Being in the mountains, whether that's hiking or going for road trips, I am constantly visualising how I would paint them using my unique style. Observing my paintings is experiencing with me the ability to understand my constant state of seeing nature magnifying its colour in ways that seem unrealistic. But to me is natural.

I have entered paintings in exhibitions based in Wanaka which has been a good push outside my comfort zone, and great exposure for me as an artist.

I hope you enjoy my art as much as I do creating them,

I look forward to hearing from you!

Lucy xx
